👏Congratulations to Shaun for completing a Certificate II in Horticulture, after 18 months of study and on-the-job training at our Barwarre Gardens Retirement Village.Shaun is an NDIS participant, accessing support from genU’s Employment Pathways team. As part of this, the team assisted the budding gardener into supported work experience and volunteering at Barwarre Gardens, leading to a job as a Trainee Gardener.He also received ongoing assistance to complete his Cert II through an on-the-job traineeship. 🌟We are thrilled to provide Supported Independent Living (SIL) services to three NDIS participants at the outstanding new Specialist Disability Accommodation Australia (SDAAUS) property in Wallan, and look forward to assisting more in the future.The property has been purpose-built to ensure residents can live independently in villas with 24/7 shared onsite support. It includes state-of-the-art features, including high physical supports, fully accessible individual ensuites, ceiling hoist capacity, adjustable kitchen benchtops, and wheelchair-accessible design.With current vacancies leaving the impressive property under-occupied, it was valuable to discuss funding complexities that prospective residents are experiencing on a recent visit. Recently, we announced that Activ Foundation and genU are merging in what will be a sector-leading transformation of national scale. 👏Three genU participants are building skills while growing vegetables for the Annual Silverbeet for Food Relief program at Werribee Park.🌱🥣Along with helping to plant 2000 silverbeet seedlings, Liam, Ricky and Daniel are pitching in to maintain the garden beds in readiness for harvesting.
