Hurricane Debby made landfall in Florida on Monday and is expected to produce heavy rainfall and flooding in South Carolina as it passes through this week. In response, Governor Henry McMaster issuedExecutive Order 2024-16declaring a State of Emergency in preparation for the potential effects of the storm. The executive order activatedthe South Carolina Emergency Operations Plan and enables all state agencies to coordinate resources in preparation for HurricaneDebby.

We will update the information belowthroughout the week to reflect all closings and delays reported to us frompublic institutions of higher education in South Carolina.

Research and Comprehensive Institutions

Status

The Citadel

Clemson University

  • Clemson-MUSC Bioengineering Program - closed Aug. 6-8

Francis Marion University

Classes transition to virtual instruction Aug. 6 at 2:30 p.m., and non-essential university staff will assume remote responsibilities as assigned by their supervisors. Thiswill continue through the duration of the storm - FMU anticipates resumption of operations Aug. 12, additional information to follow.
